``Self-stabilizing Replication'' Applets

This page contains links to some applets which I wrote as part of my Diploma thesis. They simulate some of the algorithms I have studied and developed since July 1997. All applets are presented together with a short explanation. They use the excellent simjava package by Ross McNab and Fred Howell of the University of Edinburgh.

Important Notice:
Most of the applets are written using Java version 1.1 so the applets won't show if you still use one of the ``old'' browsers (like Netscape Navigator). Sometimes I have supplied the applets in a version browsable by the old browsers, but I recommend switching to a new one (e.g. Netscape Communicator, Hotjava, etc). Be sure to always use the latest versions.

A Unit Capacity Data Link - this is basicly a self-stabilzing version of the stop-and-wait protocol.
Dijkstra's self-stabilizing token ring - a version of Dijkstra's first self-stabilzing algorithm transferred to a message-passing environment.
A simple self-stabilizing replication algorithm - the first of a family of three algorithms developed in my diploma thesis.

Extensions to simjava (also with example Applets)

Here are a few classes that were used to build the applets from the previous section. These classes are available as the simdistalg package.

All these classes can be downloaded in a test version here. The current reference documentation created by javadoc is already available. Refer to the above examples and the code provided on the above pages for examples of usage or contact me if you experience problems.

The applets were coded using Norman Ramsey's noweb literate programming tool.
