General Information
The PhD program in electronic commerce of the Darmstadt University
of Technology is a program in which young researchers carry out
their PhD thesis research in specific areas related to electronic
commerce and gain a global view of related issues through a companion
series of lectures and seminars.
Eleven research groups in the departments of
Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Business Administration,
Sociology, and Law are involved in this PhD program. In addition,
associated institutes enrich the study and research program, in
particular the FHG-Research
Centre for Information Technology and the Fraunhofer
Institute for Graphical Data Processing.
The program is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) in the form of a Graduate College ("Graduiertenkolleg" in German). These are longterm programs that are established at a university to promote interdisciplinary thesis research of doctoral students. The research program is complemented by lectures and seminars in the relevant areas. Typically, one or two postdocs are also sponsored.
