Robert-Piloty Building

The bigger part of the Department of Computer Science, including the Dean's Office is housed near the city center: In building S2 | 02 (Hochschulstr. 10) in the old-styled built facilities of the TU.

By car

By car you will reach Darmstadt via Autobahn A5 or A67. Exit the Autobahn at Darmstädter Kreuz and follow the signs "Darmstadt Mitte". You will go east on Rheinstrasse.

To go to building S2|02 (Hochschulstr. 10) follow Rheinstrasse and take the underpass. Exit the underpass to the left and keep left as you go through the traffic light. Go through the next traffic light and keep right to turn onto Alexanderstr.

To reach building S2|02 turn left onto Magdalenenstr. and after a left curve, again left into Hochschulstr.. At its end on the right hand side, behind the gate lies building S2|02.

(Please use the parking lot "Schloßgarage" or another multi-storey car park in the neighbourhood.)

By public transport - by train and tram or bus

At the main railway station in Darmstadt, use the exit at the east side of the station (Ausgang Ost). In front of you, you will find a bus and tram stop which is frequented by the bus line K (direction Lichtwiese) and the tram lines number 5 (direction Kranichstein) and 3 (direction Lichtenbergschule). Both lines stop at your destination stop: Willy-Brandt-Platz - it is the fourth stop. You get tickets at a vending machine at the station or onboard the bus; a ticket costs EUR 1,20.

Once arrived at the destination stop, to approach the building S2 | 02,
(Hochschulstr. 10) cross the street and walk into a sideway righthand of Frankfurter Strasse alongside a striking sandstone building. After approximately 50 metres enter the Gardens, (the main one of them is called "Herrengarten" - Lord's Garden and the integrated one is called "Prinz Georgs Garten" - Prince George's Garden) before the street bends right into Bismarck Strasse. The Gardens are attached to the university building S2 | 02, (Hochschulstr. 10). In the "Herrengarten" keep on going straight across for 200 metres until you reach the building S2 | 02 which raises lefthand of the gardens eastern entrance portal opposite to the western one you accessed the Gardens from.

By bike or walk

If you don't want to use public transport, you can go by foot or by bike, below you will find a route. Deutsche Bahn DB - German Railway does offer its bike rental service Call a Bike at the Southern Exit of Darmstadt's railway station). You might only need 10-20 minutes depending on your personal fitness but this option depends in first place on the availability of Bikes - currently: 4. To walk you should figure in 20 to 30 minutes. In this case, you can use the same exit at the east side of the station (Ausgang Ost) as if taking the trams. Please find the google map below. Once you have reached the eastern entrance portal of the "Herrengarten" - The Lord's Garden (shown as destination on the google map), keep on biking or walking straight across for 200 metres until you reach the building S2 | 02 which raises lefthand of the gardens eastern entrance portal opposite to the western one you accessed the Gardens from. On the backside of the building you can find cycle racks.

By plane

You will arrive at the airport Frankfurt/Main. From the airport you might take a taxi or go by public transport. To take a taxi from the airport costs about EUR 45,00. Alternatively, you can take the Airliner it is a direct bus line which commutes between the Airport and Darmstadt. The bus starts from platform 14, just in front of the Termial 1. The tickets are sold by the driver and cost EUR 7,40 per ride. Please find the time schedule here:
Airliner-Bus

The bus is the quickest option it takes about 20 minutes to reach Darmstadt (Hauptbahnhof) the main central station. It does not pay off to take a train it costs EUR 7,30 (standard rate) but more than doubles your travel time.

From Darmstadt Hauptbahnhof - the main central railway station you continue your journey with another bus or a tram to your next stop. The following bus and tram lines according to their directions, are available: bus line K Lichtwiese, tram line 3 Lichtenbergschule, tram line 4 Darmstadt-Kranichstein and tram line 5 Kranichstein Bahnhof. Get off at the fourth stop called Willy Brand Platz, located at the Frankfurter Strasse.

From there, righthand of Frankfurter Strasse you find a sidestreet taking you alongside a striking sandstone building. Location of Department of Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science has one location close to the center of Darmstadt. The building S2|02 (Hochschulstr. 10) is situated next to the old-styled part of the TU Darmstadt.
