On Monday, Apr 24, a talk will be given within the special CE Seminar with focus on computational electromagnetics, which we want to invite you to cordially: At 16:15, Dr. Clemens Pechstein from the CST AG will talk about "Non-overlapping domain decomposition formulations for the wave equation". The talk will be held in S2|17-103 (TEMF, Schlossgartenstraße). An abstract may be found below.

Abstract: To date, there is a large literature on non-overlapping domain decomposition (DD) methods for acoustic and electromagnetic wave problems. For some of these methods, the domain decomposition is tightly coupled to the formulation and makes it difficult to understand. In this talk (based on joint work with Timo Euler, CST AG), we develop a unified DD framework based on fundamental linear algebra and functional analysis. Reinterpreting existing methods in the resulting language clearly shows their similarities and differences. In particular, FETI-type methods, optimized Schwarz, hybridized discontinuous Galerkin (HDG) methods, and multi-trace formulations are considered. We also present an alternative derivation based on Love's surface equivalence principle, which is widely used in the electromagnetic community and at the same time closely connected to boundary integral equations.
