Questions regarding the master of science programs

How can I apply for a master program?

Please notice that the application is not done via the department of computer science.

German applicants have to apply via the online application tool of the Studierendensekretariat of the TU Darmstadt.

Foreign applicants have to apply via the Department of International Affairs of the TU Darmstadt.

In both cases the respective facilities will at first check the formal prerequisites. In the second step the department of computer science will check the subject-specific prerequisites. These can be found in the appendix II of the implementation term of the correspondend study program.

If you have further questions regarding the application process in generall (e.g. deadlines or needed documents) or the formal prerequisites (e.g. equivalence of the degree or language certificates) please contact the facilities above.

If you have further questions regarding the subject-specific prerequisites you can write a mail to the student advisory service.

I have already absolved lectures from a different university. Where and how can I get these recognised?

Responsible for the recognition of academic achievments is Dr. Brandt. Please contact her regarding further information or an appointment.

Do I have to submit an examination plan?

How can I generate an examination plan?

You have to use the examination plan tool for generating your examination plan. Be sure to carefully read all the given information in the tool itself and in the print version of your plan!

How can I change my examination plan?

It is possible at any time to change your plan via the examination plan tool. It is not allowed to discard already completed exams or to change their credit points.

Please keep in mind to submit your new plan again!

Do I have to pass exams in the fields of mandatory choice?

It is possible, since October 2015, to remove one open (not passed) exam (Fachprüfung) from each field of mandatory choice before the third attempt. Under specific circumstances, it might be possible to remove a second one. For further information please contact the student advisory service of the department.

In the fields of course-related achievments (Studienleistungen) it is possible to remove an arbitrary number of exams (before the third attempt).

If you unregister in a proper way from a first attempt or if you submit the documents for a valid excuse in time, you do not have to take the exam again.

Is it possible to write my thesis in an external company?

In principle, yes. More information about the basic conditions can be found in the handout for external theses(presently in German only).
