Amidst glorious summer weather on 18 June 2026, the Department of Computer Science’s summer colloquium and the Students’ Council's summer party were held in and around the Piloty Building.

Following a brief update on the department from the Dean, two new professors introduced themselves and their research topics:

  • Prof. Adi Akavia, Applied Cybersecurity
  • Prof. Naser Damer, Biometrics, Human Analysis and Behaviour Understanding

Following these informative and entertaining insights, the Computer Science Students’ Association presented the award for best teaching in the winter semester 2025/26.

The student feedback, evaluated by student council members, resulted in top marks for two teams:

  • Prof. Dr Michael Waidner and Maximilian Müller from the Security in Information Technology group received the award for the best lecture for their course “Information Security Management”.
  • Prof. Dr Carsten Binnig, Dr Nils Boeschen, Adrian Lutsch and Alessandro Ferri from the Data and AI Systems group received the award for the best tutorial for their course “Scalable Data Management Systems”.

With temperatures exceeding 30 degrees, the participants then rounded off the day with cool drinks and lively conversations at the student association’s summer party.
