We are proud to share that Johannes Wehrstein, Timo Eckmann, Roman Heinrich, and Carsten Binnig have won the Best Paper Award at the AIDB@VLDB'25 workshop for their paper “JOB-Complex: A Challenging Benchmark for Traditional & Learned Query Optimization”.

The paper presents a new benchmark for query optimization and cost models that better reflects real-world query complexities, such as joins over string columns and complex filter predicates.
