How to get to the Robert-Piloty-Building

By Car:

How to get to Darmstadt Zentrum

leave Autobahn A5 or A67 at exit “Darmstadt Zentrum”, stay on main road towards city center; main road becomes Rheinstraße; you enter a tunnel (Cityring) that makes a right turn; stay on the 2-lane main track (turns left at end of tunnel and at next set of traffic lights)

How to get to Hochschulstr. 10 (Robert-Piloty-Building)

Cross the road at the next traffic light and follow the main road which turns left. After the turn, follow the signs on the right into the underground parking “Schlossgarage” which is already close to our department.

From “Schlossgarage” enter the “Herrngarten”. The Piloty-Building is already in view (big E-shaped building on the right edge of the garden). You can find our department at the first floor in the building section A.

For special occasions, parking may be allowed on campus; in this case, visitors are allowed to enter through one of the campus gates.

By Tram / Bus:

Easiest way: From the train station take tram #3 towards “Lichtenbergschule”, tram #5 towards “Kranichstein” or bus #K towards “TU-Lichtwiese/Mensa” and get off at “Willy-Brandt-Platz” (see map above). Continue straight across the street; the tracks will turn left and right, but you should follow the street straight ahead and enter Herrngarten after about 100 m. Just continue straight ahead and cross the garden; we are located on the opposite side in the big beige building.

By Plane:

TU-Darmstadt is about 30 minutes from Frankfurt Airport by the airport shuttle bus (Heag Airliner). The bus leaves at the arrival level of Terminal 1 (bus stop 14) and Terminal 2 and drops you right at the Darmstadt main train station (third stop) after a 20 minute ride. You can get to our institute by tram in a few minutes as described further below.
