Paper on “Edge Computing” accepted at INFOCOM 2018

2017/12/04

Recently, TK Researcher Dr. Lin Wang made research progress on edge computing and got a paper accepted at INFOCOM 2018. INFOCOM is a premier venue for computer networking research. This year it received 1606 submissions, of which 309 papers were accepted (acceptance rate of 19.2%). More information about the conference can be found on http://infocom2018.ieee-infocom.org.

The paper targets the fundamental challenge of optimally engaging social VR/AR applications (e.g., Facebook Spaces) in the edge platform. While VR/AR applications are considered as the killer application for edge computing, there are very few discussions on how to bridge them. This paper presents the first formal study of this problem by presenting a comprehensive performance model and a graph-cut-based iterative algorithm.

This work was jointly done with researchers from University of Oregon (USA) and Pennsylvania State University (USA).
