Department celebrates the graduates of the class of 2023/2024

Ceremony in the Maschinenhaus of TU Darmstadt

2024/06/10

On Friday, 7 June 2024, the Department bid farewell to 48 of its graduates with a ceremony in the Maschinenhaus of the TU Darmstadt. In total, around 500 students graduate from the Department each year, of whom around 250 complete their Master's degree. In addition, an average of 40 PhDs are awarded each year.

After welcoming speeches by Vice President Prof. Dr. Martin Oechsner and Dean Prof. Dr. Dr. Christian Reuter, the Master's graduates and PhD students were personally honoured.

This year, Prof. Dr. Antonio Krüger, Managing Director of the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), gave a keynote speech with an exciting overview of AI developments in Europe.

Two graduates received awards for their outstanding Master's theses from Manfred Hochhuth, board member of the Friends of TU Darmstadt:

The awards went to Till Dirk Steinert for his thesis Highly Performant Distributed Cache Replacement in a Shared-Caching DBMS and, in his absence, to Ulla Scheler for her thesis Cross-Domain Semantic Segmentation with Adapters.

Finally, the Department and the Computer Science Student Committee honoured Jannis Blüml, Zora Franke, Kevin Otto and Mark Rothermel for their commitment to the work of the Student Committee. The Student Committee does invaluable work in the Department, for example through its involvement in committees, in the development of courses and during the orientation week for new students.

The event was accompanied by the saxophone duo Mainz 02. The next ceremony will take place in June 2025.
