TU computer science professor Mira Mezini honoured with the Dahl Nygaard Prize

Major award in the field of object-oriented software engineering

The prestigious Dahl-Nygaard Senior Prize 2025 will be awarded this year to Professor Dr. Mira Mezini from TU Darmstadt. The prize will be awarded at this year's European Conference on Object Oriented Programming (ECOOP), which takes place from 30 June to 4 July. It honours her many years of pioneering contributions to software engineering.

Mezini holds a LOEWE Top Professorship for Computer Science at the TU Darmstadt and heads the Software Technology Group. She is also the founding co-director of hessian.AI, the Hessian Centre for Artificial Intelligence, and a board member of the national research centre for applied cybersecurity ATHENE. Her research focuses on three central areas of computer science: programming systems for distributed software and AI, automated software analysis, and fundamental models for code.

Mezini has received numerous awards for her research. These include two IBM Eclipse Innovation Awards, a Google Research Award and the prestigious ERC Advanced Grant. She is also an ACM Fellow, one of the highest international honours in computer science. She is a member of the Leopoldina, the German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech) and the Academia Europaea.
