RTG Retreat 2022 at Lufthansa Seeheim

2022/11/11

Also this year, all RTG members as well as the associated PhDs, PostDocs and PIs finally came together in person again to attend our RTG Retreat at Lufthansa Seeheim conference hotel on November 8 and 9, 2022. The retreat was opened with an introducing speech by RTG PI Prof. Stephanie Pieschl, followed by a year review by Dr. Ephraim Zimmer and Jana Vogel (RTG Coordination Team). This was followed by an extended poster session with video pitches by all RTG PhDs and plenty of time to discuss feedback and questions in front of the poster stands. Subsequently, supervision meetings took place where each PhD met her*his supervisor team consisting of their main supervisor and one PI and/or PostDoc from another discipline. The day ended with a nice dinner together as well as many rounds of bowling, table football and pool.

The second day started with parallel PI and PhD meetings, followed by talks by RTG Associate Dr. Nina Gerber and RTG Alumni Dr. Markus Uhlmann who presented their current research projects. After a nice hike to the castle ruin Tannenberg and lunch, all retreat participants came together in interdisciplinary groups and brainstormed on prospective mutual research projects. The retreat was concluded with closing remarks by RTG spokesman Prof. Mühlhäuser and an evaluation of the event.

The conference was a great success again: We could not only re-establish a great sense of togetherness but also have an enriching exchange of research interests and ideas. The PhDs had the extensive opportunity to get a feedback about their scientific work from a broad group of researchers and initiate new research collaborations with our associates.
