Female Scientists Lecture Series with Professor Alicia von Schenk

On September 15, 2023, Alicia von Schenk, a Junior Professor of Applied Microeconomics, in particular Human-Machine Interaction, at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg gave an exciting lecture about behavioral economic aspects in dealing with AI. The lecture was organized as part of the Female Scientists Lecture Series and was held at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main.

In her lecture she addressed the possibilities and risks of human interaction with AI systems and presented empirical and experimental research results. Her research has shown that increasingly more accurate data-driven predictions offered by AI algorithms can contribute to personalized work environments. Furthermore, algorithmically supported institutions – if accepted – could improve collaboration. However, less prosocial behavior can be observed when decisions are only a part of Big Data or when the distance between humans and algorithmic agents is too great.

Professor Alicia von Schenk not only gave the audience food for thought on this topic, but also shared valuable career advice and personal insights about her career path in science.
