This year’s RTG Retreat took place on November 9 and 10, 2023 in Wetzlar. Professor Max Mühlhauser gave an introductory speech, followed by a presentation called “The Year in Review” given by the Coordination Team.

The afternoon session was devoted to an extended poster session with plenty of time to discuss questions and give feedback to the PhD candidates. After the poster session, each PhD candidate met with their supervision team, comprising three people – their main supervisor, tandem PI and a PostDoc from another discipline.

The second day started with parallel PI and PhD meetings, followed by a talk given by RTG Associate Dr. Aidmar Wainakh who presented his current research project. The group visited Leica Welt where they heard more about Privacy and Trust in the context of Content Authenticity Initiative. In the afternoon, Professor Jan Gugenheimer gave an inspiring lecture called “Why do we publish” after which Professor Mühlhäuser talked about what lies ahead in this final phase of the project.

The conference was well-visited, with plenty of opportunity for the PhD candidates to introduce their research projects, get help or feedback from professors and more senior fellow researchers, and launch new collaborative research projects.
