1st GRK-Day and Retreat on June 1st and 2nd

On June 1st, GRK members as well as the associated PhDs and PostDocs came together for the first GRK-day at the Landgasthof Siegfriedbrunnen in Gras-Ellenbach (Bergstraße). The convention was opened with an intruducing speech by Prof. Max Mühlhäuser, followed by a talk about scietific writing by Prof. Marc Fischlin. Subsequently PostDocs and PhDs gave short presentations about their research followed by another external talk by Dr.-Ing. Florian Volk. At the end of the day, participants had the chance to come back together for social networking while hiking and eating stickbread by the fire.

On June 2nd, the GRK Retreat took place at the same location. Apart from talks about how to satisfy the DFG, speed dating was part of the program: Each of the nine participating PhDs had the chance to talk to two PIs during a time slot of 20 minutes, resulting in an come together about lessons learnt.

Both days have been a major success for all members of the GRK to get in contact with other experts in their research areas and plans are already in progress for the 2nd GRK-Day this year.
