Smart 3D Urban Reconstruction from Point Cloud Data

Reconstruction of 3D models based on point cloud data has been widely studied in both computer graphics and computer vision communities. However, automatic reconstruction of models that accurately represent real-world models remains an open problem.

Goal

Devise and implement an approach to automatically and efficiently reconstruct light weight 3D models of large amounts of man-made objects, such as building, from point cloud data.

Requirements

  • C/C++ programming experience is required
  • Experience with CGAL can be advantageous
  • Some hands-on experience in machine learning can be helpful
  • Eagerness to learn and work hard
