Interacting with 4D (virtual/augmented Reality) city models

Bachelor Thesis, Master Thesis

Modern cities are becoming increasingly connected and smarter, but not everything can and should be controlled by artificial intelligence. How can people grasp and navigate the flood of data in a smart city? How can we understand past, present and (simulated) future and learn to deal with time intuitively?

In the context of this work, various concepts for interaction in 4D smart city models will therefore be created and tested, in order to enable intuitive handling of the expected abundance of data.

Goal

Conceptualization and evaluation of novel interaction techniques for model-based 4D city models.

Requirements

  • Good programming skills
  • Unity3D and SteamVR/OpenVR knowledge an advantage
  • Fun with iterative prototyping
  • Experience with virtual reality (use, not development) advantageous
