AR x-ray for emergency scenarios

Bachelor Thesis, Master Thesis

In the event of an emergency, such as a fire, a flooding, or an earthquake, first respondents are required to asses the situation and act promptly in scenarios that typically involve obstructions. In such situations having the possibility of visualizing the objects behind the obstructions can be crucial. In spite of the recent advances in AR x-ray approaches, making them suitable to the demanding requirements of emergency scenarios is still an unresolved issue.

Goal

Devise and implement an approach that allows to depict in AR dynamic live entities behind visual obstacles (such as a wall) in an efficient manner.

Requirements

  • Programming experience is required, particularly with Xcode for iOS
  • Experience with Apple's ARKit can be helpful
  • Some hands-on experience in machine learning can be helpful
  • Eagerness to learn and work hard
