One more publication entitled “Advancing Trust Visualisations for Wider Applicability and User Acceptance” by TK researchers Oksana Kulyk, Benjamin Reinheimer, Paul Gerber, Florian Volk, Melanie Volkamer and Max Mühlhäuser has been accepted at top venue 16th IEEE International Conference on Trust, Security and Privacy in Computing and Communications (IEEE TrustCom-17) which will take place on August 1-4 in Sydney, Australia.

On May 17th, Prof. Dr. Max Mühlhäuser gave an invited talk at the 15th “Deutscher It-Sicherheitskongress” about industrial security and internet of things (IoT) in Bonn-Bad Godesberg. In his keynote “Sicherheit, Privatheit, Vertrauen bei IoT – Herausforderungen für|Recht und Technik” he illustrated privacy, trust and security within IoT as well as the major challenges in law and engineering.

TK researchers (Dr. Sheikh Mahbub Habib and Dr. Emmanouil Vasilomanolakis) are serving as guest editors in the special issue “Trust Management in the Cyber-Security Era” of the prestigious Security and Communication Networks journal.

TK researchers (Dr. Lin Wang and Julien Gedeon from the SUN area) have made research progress on edge computing and recently, they presented two papers at the 37th IEEE International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems (ICDCS). ICDCS is a premier venue and the oldest conference for distributed computing research.

Through the placement of so called “Honeypots”, Carlos Garcia, Emmanouil Vasilomanolakis and Florian Volk, TK researchers around Professor Max Mühlhäuser, want to find out how hackers work. An interessting article about their research work has been published in Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on 18 July 2017.

As Prof. Max Mühlhäuser turned 60 this year, there was a festive colloqium in honor of his birthday on June 30th which was seen as outstanding success by his more over 150 guests.

After visiting the TK lab on 2nd August, German private TV channel RTL Hessen broadcasted another report on research project TraCINg on 11th August.

The media interest in research project TraCINg remains high. On 14th August, the Bundesministeriums für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) published an article about TraCINg on their website.

Dabei wurden zum einen zentrale Beiträge zum Algorithmus zur Bildung von Holonen, also autonomen, veränderlichen Sub-Netzes geleistet und ein Software-Werkzeug namens HOLEG entwickelt.

TK researchers of the SPIN area (Emmanouil Vasilomanolakis, Carlos Garcia Cordero and Leon Böck) will be presenting their work in Blackhat Europe in London, UK!

TK researcher Emmanouil Vasilomanolakis will be giving a seminar as part of the Cyber Security Seminars at the University of Oxford on the 8th of December 2017. The title of his talk is “I trust my Zombies: a Trust-enabled Botnet”.

Recently, TK Researcher Dr. Lin Wang made research progress on edge computing and got a paper accepted at INFOCOM 2018. INFOCOM is a premier venue for computer networking research.
