The Department of Computer Science welcomes Professor Dr. Christian Reuter to the TU Darmstadt

leads the Professor Dr. Christian Reuter at the Department of Computer Science and intends a close collaboration with the research group „Science and Technology for Peace and Security“ regarding the degree programme „International Studies/Peace and Conflict Studies“. Professor Reuter studied Information Systems at the University of Siegen and at the École Supérieure de Commerce in Dijon. He obtained a PhD for his work on (inter-)organizational collaboration technology design for crisis management. Subsequently, he has been division manager at the Institute for Information Systems at the University of Siegen and coordinator of the graduate school Sustainable Management Entrepreneurs. In addition, Professor Reuter is the founding speaker of the „Human-Machine Interaction in Safety-Critical Systems“-section of the Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (Informatics Society). Before his career in science, Professor Reuter has been an IT consultant and worked together with companies such as SAP, RWE and Deutsche Telekom. Department of History and Social Sciences
At the Department of Computer Science, Prof. Reuter is now a full professor for the core area „Science and Technology for Peace and Security“. The research group deals with the interdisciplinary design of IT infrastructures and researches human-computer-interaction for peace and security. Therefore, Professor Reuter plans a close collaboration with the , the profile area Cybersecurity (CYSEC) and the interdisciplinary working Centre for Research in Security and Privacy (CRISP) at TU Darmstadt. Research core areas are, amongst others, the impact and dispute of (cross-national) conflicts and crises in social media, digital counter-terrorism, safety-critical human-computer-interaction, the vulnerability of critical infrastructures (e.g. mobile communications, energy or nutrition) and civic societal continuity for peace as well as civil and national security. group Science, Technology, Peace (IANUS)
Professor Reuter is excited about his new working environment: „Both Darmstadt as 'digital city' and the TU Darmstadt – the Department of Computer Science and IANUS in particular – offer various opportunities regarding security research. Substantial experiences in cyber peace and cyber security enable an excellent fundament for top-quality research with renowned personalities and involved students, to which I am very much looking forward too.“
