How to get to the Robert Piloty Building
How to get to Darmstadt city centre
Leave Autobahn A5 or A67 at exit “Darmstadt Zentrum”, stay on main road toward the city centre. The main road becomes Rheinstraße, and you will enter a tunnel (the Cityring) that makes a right turn. Stay on the two-lane main track, which turns left at end of tunnel and at next set of traffic lights.
How to get to Hochschulstraße 10 (Robert-Piloty-Building)
Cross the road at the next traffic light and follow the main road which turns left. After the turn, follow the signs on the right into the underground parking “Schlossgarage” which is close to our building.
From Schlossgarage, enter the Herrngarten park. The Robert Piloty Building is already in view (the big E-shaped building on the right edge of the garden).
For special occasions, parking may be allowed on campus; in this case, visitors are allowed to enter through one of the campus gates.
Outside the main entrance of the train station (Darmstadt Hauptbahnhof), go to the RMV vending machines or service kiosk and purchase a ticket for Darmstadt-Mitte. Then take any of the following trams or buses and get off at Willy-Brandt-Platz:
- Tram 3 towards Lichtenbergschule
- Tram 5 towards Kranichstein
- Bus 671 towards Dieburg Hochschule Süd
- Bus 672 towards Dieburg Bahnhof
- Bus K towards TU-Lichtwiese/Mensa
- Bus RH towards Reinheim-Ueberau Karl-Marx-Straße
- Bus MO1 towards Ober-Ramstdat-Nieder-Modau am Schlossberg
- Bus NH towards Fischbachtal-Niedernhausen Linde
Continue walking in the direction of travel down Bismarckstraße and enter the Herrngarten park. Continue walking on the path; we are located on the opposite side of the park in the big beige building. You can see a map showing the walking route.
TU Darmstadt is about 30 minutes from Frankfurt Airport by the AirLiner shuttle bus. Tickets are available from the driver. The bus leaves at the arrival level of Terminal 1 (bus stop 14) and Terminal 2 and terminates at the Darmstadtium convention centre. You can then walk north (with the castle on your left and the Darmstadtium on your right), past the Welcome Hotel and along the edge of the Herrngarten park, until you arrive at the Robert Piloty Building (Hochschulstraße 10) on the left. A map showing the walking route is available.
