Science Manager in AI and Natural Language Processing

The LOEWE Distinguished Chair “Ubiquitous Knowledge Processing” (UKP Lab) at the Computer Science Department of the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany, is looking for a

Research Associate (Postdoc) as Science Manager in AI and Natural Language Processing (full- or part-time)

The employment is initially for 2 years with an option for extension.

This position is crucial for conceptualizing, planning and coordinating of a wide range of multi-partner research projects of the UKP Lab. Responsibilities include drafting project applications, organizing scientific events as well as managing a wide range of scientific and administrative issues. This includes contributions to establish collaborations with leading international and national, academic and industrial research partners, applying for third-party funding in cooperation with other research institutions, various German and international funding agencies.

CANDIDATES

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Natural Language Processing, Artificial Intelligence or a related field. Very good organizational skills are required as well as the ability to perform assigned tasks independently, coordinating closely with the lab director. A wide range of tasks demand quick comprehension, analytical skills, attention to detail, reliability and a lot of flexibility. Prior research experience in Artificial Intelligence and strong writing skills are a definite plus.

LOCATION

The position assumes that you can move to Darmstadt or a nearby German location. Darmstadt is very close to the Frankfurt airport and provides an excellent living environment for incoming staff members.
