2013/10/30

Seid Muhie Yimam will present a tutorial on the annotation tool WebAnno on November 5th 2013, at 10am in S2|02 C110.

WebAnno: A Flexible, Web-based and Visually Supported System for Distributed Annotations

WebAnno is a general purpose web-based annotation tool for a wide range of linguistic annotations. It offers annotation project management, freely configurable tagsets, project monitoring and user management. It supports large document annotations, import/export filters, curation of annotations across users, and farming out annotations to a crowd-sourcing platform. In this tutorial, we will demonstrate the functionalities of webanno: 1) Brief installation procedures, 2) User management and project set-up, 3) Annotation, curation and correction, 4) Crowd-sourcing integration and 5) Monitoring and Kappa measures. WebAnno will be installed in a VM where tutorial attendees have credential for the period of the tutorial, so that a computer with internet connection will be helpful. Attendees can also install Webanno in to their local machine, either from source code (https://code.google.com/p/webanno/) or using one of the war files found at (smb://fry/projects/resources/tutorials/webanno) following the installation instruction at (https://code.google.com/p/webanno/wiki/InstallationGuide).
