Ido Dagan gives invited talk at UKP

On 19 October Prof. Ido Dagan of Bar-Ilan University will give an invited talk at the UKP Lab at the Technische Universität Darmstadt.

The talk, titled “Natural language inference in natural language terms”, describes recent learning-based approaches that perform broad textual inference over common linguistic representations, under the textual entailment paradigm. Prof. Dagan suggests that we should invest substantially in developing generic inference mechanisms over human-language representations, while possibly interfacing with “extra-linguistic” inferences where needed.

Ido Dagan is an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science of Bar-Ilan University. His interests are in applied semantic processing, focusing on the development of generic textual inference models and engines and novel application schemes that are based on them. In this context, Dagan and colleagues defined the textual entailment recognition task and organized the Recognizing Textual Entailment Challenges.
