2024/08/27 by Angela Zimmerling
From 28 to 30 August, more than 150 scientists will come together for the International Conference on Resilient Systems (ICRS) at the CREATE Tower in Singapore. The ICRS is one of the leading interdisciplinary conferences in resilience research. For the first time, it will also be co-organised by emergenCITY representatives. The LOEWE centre emergenCITY is an interdisciplinary and cross-location cooperation under the leadership of TU Darmstadt.

It is a great recognition of our work and will increase our visibility enormously," says Max Mühlhäuser, Deputy Coordinator of and Professor of Computer Science at TU Darmstadt. In addition to emergenCITY, the organisers include renowned institutes such as ETH Zurich (Switzerland), the Stevens Institute of Technology (USA) and the 4TU Centre for Resilience Engineering (Netherlands). It will be hosted by the Singapore-ETH Centre. The ICRS is held at a different location each year. emergenCITY
Representing emergenCITY and TU Darmstadt are Vahid Jamali, Professor of Resilient Communication Systems, John Friesen, Research Associate at the Institute of Fluid Systems Engineering, and Ladan Khaloopour, Research Associate at the Institute of Communications Engineering.
What is unique about the conference is that it covers different areas of research, with scientists from different disciplines presenting and discussing their findings. Topics include infrastructure resilience, society and community, health, cyber-physical systems, food systems, disaster resilience and digitalisation.
emergenCITY
The has been researching resilient infrastructures to protect digital cities from crises and disasters since 2020. The solution concepts include modern information and communication technologies, cyber-physical systems as well as historical, legal, social and structural aspects of crisis and disaster management. emergenCITY is an interdisciplinary and cross-location cooperation of the partner universities Technische Universität Darmstadt, University of Kassel and Philipps University Marburg. Associated partners are the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK), the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) and the City of Darmstadt. LOEWE centre emergenCITY
The research is funded by the LOEWE research funding programme of the state of Hesse. LOEWE stands for Landes-Offensive zur Entwicklung wissenschaftlich-ökonomischer Exzellenz.
