Iryna Gurevych named as a new ACL fellow 2020

Professor Iryna Gurevych was selected as one of nine new Fellows of the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL) for her outstanding work in the field of natural language processing and machine learning.

Contributions to NLP

Gurevych is recognized for theoretical and practical contributions to deep learning models for NLP, and computational argumentation, and for services to the ACL and the German NLP Community.

ACL Fellowships

The ACL Fellowship programme gives credit to members whose research provides an extraordinary contribution to the field of computational linguistics in terms of scientific and technical excellence, service to the community and/ or impactful educational or outreach activities. The number of new fellows appointed in a year should not represent more than 0.2% of the current ACL membership.

Vice-President-elect

In November 2020, Professor Iryna Gurevych has been elected Vice-President-elect. She will take up the new position on January 1, 2021, and in 2023 she will become president of the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL)
