The password as an authentication scheme is ubiquitous, still many systems insufficiently support the user in creating secure passwords. For a while, behavioral sciences have been testing “nudges” as concept to encourage users to choose the “wiser”, e.g., healthier, option. This research transfers the concept of nudging to information security and explores password nudges as a strategy to enhance users’ password strength.
