Winter colloquium of the department
News from the field and opportunity to exchange ideas
2024/12/06
A light snow fell just in time for the start of this year's Departmental Winter Colloquium. In a cosy atmosphere, staff, students, professors and emeriti could once again look forward to an update on the Department, short presentations by new researchers and the presentation of the Feedback Awards by the Student Committee
Dean Prof Dr Dr Christian Reuter opened the colloquium with a brief update on the Department. He gave an entertaining presentation on current figures, staff changes, information on new infrastructure and current projects.
Three new academics then introduced themselves to the visitors to the colloquium:
- , Mobile Human-Computer Interaction Prof. Dr Florian Müller
- , Knowledge Engineering Substitute Prof. Dr Marc-André Kaufhold
- , AI and NLP for Mental Health Dr. Shaoxiong Ji
The highlight and finale were once again the feedback prizes awarded by the Computer Science Student Committee for the best courses in the summer semester 2024:
- Private lecturer received the prize for the best lecture for his course ‘Protection in Networked Systems: Trust, Resilience, and Privacy’. Dr. habil Andrea Tundis
- and Thomas Völkl from the Department of Secure Mobile Networks received the prize for the best exercise for their course on ‘Network Security’. Lucas Becker
Although the snow had turned to drizzle in the meantime, many of those present still took the opportunity to socialise with mulled wine and waffles at the student committee's St. Nicholas party.
The Summer Colloquium 2025 will take place on 3 July.
