Yes.

Admission requirement is the completion of a degree program that provides competences amounting to at least 180 ECTS credits and that is sufficiently equivalent to a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at TU Darmstadt. Of these 180 ECTS, at least 60 credits must not be significantly different from the entry-level skills acquired in the Bachelor's program in Computer Science (B.Sc.) at the TU Darmstadt (please use the equivalency table (opens in new tab) to check this criterion).

If the entry-level skills could not be clearly clarified in this way, a written examination is carried out.

In addition, the usual requirements for all study programs apply: in particular, a timely application with complete documents (or documents submitted later within a deadline) and – after admission by the TU Darmstadt – timely transfer of the semester fee. (see Application for international students).

No.

No. We evaluate the courses you successfully passed, but not your grades.

Please fill out this equivalency table (opens in new tab) by indicating which of your courses cover the courses listed on the left side (partially or fully). Calculate the ECTS credits (partially covered courses should only be counted partially) that your courses cover. If the total number of credits is at least 60, you will most likely be invited to our Entrance Exam or directly admitted (in specific cases).

No, we only consider your academic record.

We check every degree individually, but general engineering programs usually do not cover enough computer science courses to get admission.

Yes, we enroll students continuously throughout the semester. Please apply, and if you are admitted, you can come to Darmstadt whenever your visa is ready, even if it's after the semester has started. In your first semester, you might not be able to complete a full 30 ECTS, but it will be beneficial to get settled in, and you can fully participate in your second semester.

Please carefully read the instructions in your Tucan application, the paragraph “Required Documents” on theInternational Admissionwebsite and the greetings email sent by the computer science department. Questions regarding the documents you have to send by post should be adressed to the central international admission office: Application for international students

Unfortunately, due to the large number of applications each semester, we usually do not provide updates on the admission process, nor can we send individual confirmations for received documents.

We are unable to provide an individual and detailed evaluation of submitted documents or a forecast regarding admission prior to the actual application. At the bottom of this page you can check your chances of admission.

The Entrance Exam is a test covering the subjects from our mandatory bachelor's courses. It usually takes place about 6 weeks after the deadline of the admission.

Right after the opening of the application process, we start sorting applications and checking them for the admission criteria. We usually receive thousands of application and every application has to be checked in terms of content by scientific staff with computer science background. About four weeks after the closing of the application period, applicants should get an info whether or not they have to take the entrance exam, which will take place about 6 weeks after the application deadline.

Every applicant that passed the entrance exam will be admitted if the formal requirements are fullfilled.

If you have a GRE score with at least 155 in Verbal Reasoning and 161 in Quantitative Reasoning and 3.0 in Analytical Writing, or a GATE score of at least 750, you are eligible to skip the entrance exam. If you get an invitation to the entrance exam and send us sufficient GRE or GATE scores, you can skip the exam and will be directly admitted. Please note that all of these criteria must be met or exceeded and no exceptions can be made; it is not possible to balance a slightly lower score in one area with a higher one in a different category out. Please send the test results no later than 10 calendar days after the date of the initial examination via the official portals.

No, but if you have a GRE with a sufficient score (see above question) or a sufficient GATE score, you can skip the entrance exam. You still have to fulfill the other requirements (60 ECTS and usual formal requirements, see other questions). Please send the test results no later than 10 calendar days after the date of the initial examination via the official portals.
