Proof of Concept: Professor Peters erhält 150.000 Euro vom Europäischen Forschungsrat
Professor Jan Peters ist vom Europäischen Forschungsrat (ERC) mit einem „Proof of Concept“-Grant in Höhe von 150.000 Euro ausgezeichnet worden. Er erhält den Preis für sein Projekt „AssemblySkills“. Ziel des Vorhabens: Roboter mit Hilfe von künstlicher Intelligenz die Fähigkeit zum autonomen Lernen geben.

Fundamentaler Beitrag für die Computer Vision
Informatikprofessor Stefan Roth wird heute mit dem Longuet-Higgins Prize 2020 für fundamentale Beiträge im Bereich der Computer Vision geehrt. Mit dem Preis hebt eine Expertenjury jedes Jahr eine Veröffentlichung hervor, die genau zehn Jahre zuvor publiziert wurde und in dieser Zeit einen nachhaltigen Einfluss auf die weitere Entwicklung der Computer Vision hatte. Der Preis wird auf der renommierten Konferenz CVPR verliehen und ist mit einer Plakette und 3.000 Dollar dotiert.

Doktorandin überzeugt mit Beiträgen zu Frauenkarrieren in der Informatik
Kristina Hostáková, Doktorandin aus der Forschungsgruppe Angewandte Kryptographie am Fachbereich Informatik der TU Darmstadt, wurde als eine von nur 20 Personen aus dem Raum Europa, Naher Osten und Afrika für das von Google gestiftete Women Techmakers Scholarship for Computer Science ausgewählt.

Cryptography expert receives the Copernicus Award
Their many years of joint cutting-edge research in the field of cryptography and IT security is honoured with a prestigious award: Sebastian Faust, Professor of Computer Science at the Technical University of Darmstadt, and Professor Dr. Stefan Dziembowski (University of Warsaw) will each receive half of the Copernicus Award 2020 of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) and the Fundacja na rzecz Nauki Polskiej (FNP, Foundation for Polish Science), which is endowed with 200,000 euros.

Former ENCRYPTO PhD student Daniel Demmler is in the final round of the CAST/GI PhD thesis award for IT-Security 2020 . He will present his thesis at the finale at Sicherheit 2020 in Göttingen on Thu, 19 March 2020. From 2013 to 2018, he did his doctorate “Towards Practical Privacy-Preserving Protocols” with distinction at the ENCRYPTO group. He is a postdoc at Uni Hamburg since 2019.

ERC Starting Grant for Research in Security and Privacy
Professor Thomas Schneider from the Department of Computer Science of TU Darmstadt was awarded an ERC Starting Grant by the European Research Council (ERC). The internationally renowned personalities each received a representative Robert Piloty medal and prize money of 5,000 euros.
