Darmstadt’s cybersecurity scientists uncover vulnerabilities in JavaScript-based Web Servers
Scientists at the Center for Research in Security and Privacy (CRISP) demonstrate that malicious intentions may cause not functioning, apparently “frozen” websites. The scientists discovered vulnerabilities in JavaScript software modules, which allow cyber criminals to freeze specific web sites, so that other users cannot access the web site anymore.

Opening Ceremony of the Computer Science Laboratories

Computer Science as a hands-on experience
Last Thursday, the new laboratories of the Computer Science Department were inaugurated with an opening ceremony and subsequent tours and demonstrations. In the elevated ground floor of the „Altes Hauptgebäude“ S1|03, former home to the workshops of the technical management, the research groups Telecooperation (TK), Simulation, Systems Optimization and Robotics (SIM), Intelligent Autonomous Systems (IAS), Visual Inference as well as the collaborative research centre Multi-Mechanisms Adaptation for the Future Internet (MAKI) will do their research henceforth.

Since the beginning of May, Prof. Kersting is a member of the Department of Computer Science. He leads the Institute for Machine Learning and is a member of the interdisciplinary Centre for Cognitive Science at TU Darmstadt.

Who says that programming is boring?
From May 8th to 10th, graduate school AIPHES invited pupils from the Justus-Liebig-School Darmstadt to the workshop „Adventure Data Journalism“. They spent exciting days at TU Darmstadt's Department of Computer Science and were introduced to the world of programming. In a case study, the seventh-grade girls and boys took on the role of assistants to a data journalist who is supposed to analyse texts about a certain issue and to present the results in an interesting short film for a chief editor of a fictitious online magazine.

Robot „Argonaut“ trains in harsh weather conditions for the finals in France

Stage 1: Preparation
A robot, developed by the Department of Computer Science of TU Darmstadt, competes in the final of the international ARGOS Challenge for intelligent inspection robots on oil and gas platforms for the 500,000 Euro price. The challenge was launched by the French company TOTAL. From March 13 to 17, the Argonaut developers from Darmstadt and their cooperation partners from Vienna will have to prove themselves against four other teams in Pau, France. They are currently practicing around the clock in the laboratory and on campus.
